| Second City Star Alexadra DiNovi grew up in Hinsdale, a suburb of Chicago. Influenced by her first role model, Shirley Temple, as a child, she began acting in plays and competing in dance. Acting classes became top priority next to maintaining straight A's and her teachers recognized her passion. As a teenager, Alexandra got her first big break in the motion picture, The Break Up. She fell in love with life on set and began booking commercials and independent films, including a Budweiser commercial and appearances on Prison Break, a hip T.V. show. While in college at Loyola University, DiNovi learned to balance her work schedule while maintaining high honors."I was at Second City every day of the week! I wanted to meet every person possible and learn from them. I was working with people who taught and directed Chris Farley. I was standing on the same stage he stood on. It was a dream come true."
In January 2009, Alexandra wrote and produced her first short film called Swirl. Within two weeks it was selected by The New York International Film Festival where she spoke on behalf of her work. Swirl was also selected by the Naperville Indpendent Film Festival. Since then, DiNovi has produced two other high quality short films, The Perfect Girl and Purity. Both films were selected by The New York International Film Festival, and premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Purity, a neo-film noir shot in Chicago, was nominated for an award.
(Purity - Film Still)She also wrote, directed and produced a film called Italian Love Story (currently in post production). Italian Love Story is a short version of her feature script. It's a story about family love, trust, and what life is like growing up with a fiesty Italian family from the Chicago suburbs. Anna, Alexandra's character, learns to balance her relationships with her father, her mother, Papa, Nana, and her boyfriend, Rizzo. She finds difficulty in pleasing her family without sacrificing her own happiness.
(David Waters, Alexandra DiNovi, Joette Waters on set of Italian Love Story)Alexandra has acted in over 30 films. "Acting is my passion but I have completely fallen in love with Directing. There is something really special about being on set. I love making movies. It's romantic, fun, and fulfilling." Whether acting, writing, directing, or producing her own films, her career has taken off.
